Actor, race car driver and recent "Dancing With the Stars" contestant Frankie Muniz has sold his home in Phoenix for $3.2 million.
Muniz, 32, made his first appearance in the Hot Property column more than a decade ago, when he listed one of his Westside homes at age 18. In recent years, however, he's made his home in various parts of south-central Arizona.
Set behind walls and gates in the Biltmore area, the Andalusian hacienda-style house dates from 1935.
Original floors, hand-finished walls and beamed ceilings are among the features of the 5,300-square-foot house, which has been restored and modernized. Updates include a farmhouse-style kitchen with stainless-steel appliances and floating shelves.
Never miss a local story.
The master suite comprises his and hers bathrooms, a relaxation room and a boutique-inspired closet. Guest suites are equipped with separate sitting areas. There are four bedrooms and five bathrooms.
Outdoor entertaining areas include vine-wrapped and trellis-topped patios, Roman and prayer gardens and a loggia that opens to the swimming pool. Also within 2-plus-acres of grounds is a bocce court, lawns and mature landscaping.
Muniz is known for playing the character Malcolm on the long-running sitcom "Malcolm in the Middle." Away from the screen, Muniz has dabbled as a race car driver and musician. He finished third on the most recent season of "Dancing With the Stars."
CLOSING A SALE IN LA'S SOUTH BAY
Kenley Jansen, closer for the Los Angeles Dodgers, has bought a home in Palos Verdes Estates for $6.5 million.
Built in 2005, the Spanish-style home includes three levels of living space, multiple balconies and an attached three-car garage. Views from the hedged and gated property take in the city, mountains and ocean.
Coffered-ceilinged living and dining rooms, a center-island kitchen, a wood-paneled den, five bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms lie within 6,900 square feet of interior space. A dome-topped family room features a wet bar. For the aches and pains of a 162-game season, there are sauna and steam rooms in the dedicated pool bath.
Outdoors, where there is ample patio space, a fire pit and a slate-edged swimming pool with a raised spa. The barbecue station is equipped with two grills and bench seating.
The property came to market in July for $7.2 million and was more recently listed at $6.9 million, records show. It previously changed hands three years ago for $4.9 million.
Jansen, 30, finished last year tied with Greg Holland for most saves in the National League, with 41. The right-handed relief pitcher has made two all-star teams while twice winning the NL's Trevor Hoffman Reliever of the Year Award in eight seasons with the Dodgers.
AN AUDIBLE IN THE REAL ESTATE GAME
Professional football player Jimmy Clausen is looking to complete a pass in his hometown of Westlake Village. He is selling a development project in the area for just shy of $1.6 million.
Clausen renovated and expanded the lakefront home with his brother, Rick Clausen, who played college football at LSU and Tennessee and is a coach at Calabasas High School.
Their older brother, Casey, is the head football coach at Calabasas High.
The two-story house has four bedrooms and a dedicated office in 2,755 square feet of living space. Vaulted ceilings top the master suite, which features a lavish bath. Light-wood floors, white walls and a new iron-clad staircase give the interior a contemporary vibe.
Sliding-glass doors open to a fenced patio that overlooks the lake. Brick steps connect the patio to a small dock for paddleboats.
Clausen, 30, has played for the Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens. He was a three-year starter at Notre Dame from 2007 to '09.
HOUSE SALE WAS A CO-PRODUCTION
Spinning records isn't the only thing disc jockeys Calvin Harris and Steve Angello have in common. They also have similar taste in real estate.
Harris was the buyer of Angello's Hollywood Hills home, which sold last month for about $5.045 million.
The musical roots apparently run deep at the two-story traditional home, which features a two-story music room and recording studio.
Composer-musician Tom Rothrock – who has worked with such artists as the Foo Fighters, Moby and Gwen Stefani – is another former owner.
Sitting high up from the street, the 1940s house has four bedrooms and five bathrooms in a little more than 6,000 square feet of living space.
Interior details include vaulted ceilings, built-in bookshelves and subdued hues. Oversized picture windows make the most of city-lights views.
Market lights cross over the swimming pool and patios in the backyard. There's also an outdoor shower.
Harris, 33, has hits that include "The Girls," "I'm Not Alone" and "Let's Go." He won a Grammy for best short-form music video in 2013 for the song "We Found Love," which features Rihanna.
Angello, with Swedish House Mafia, co-produced such hits as "Save the World," "Greyhound" and "Miami 2 Ibiza."
The 35-year-old is the founder and owner of Size Records and its sister label X.
A NEW ADDRESS FOR A NEW YEAR
Actor Cheyenne Jackson and his husband, actor-turned-entrepreneur Jason Landau, have sold their home in Hollywood Hills West for $2.035 million and bought another in the area for $3.55 million.
The house they sold was built in 1952 and has three bedrooms and two bathrooms in about 1,770 square feet of living space. Described as an "urban oasis" in the listing notes, the single-story house features designer finishes, ebony wood floors and walls of built-ins.
A living room, a dining room and a breakfast nook are among the living spaces. Expansive decking, with a retractable canopy and a fire pit, creates additional living space outside.
The one-third-acre property was listed for sale in November for $2.088 million and sold in just over a month.
Jackson's new spot sits on more than an acre of grounds with eucalyptus trees, a small vineyard and sweeping canyon views.
At the heart of the gated property is a 1955 ranch-style house with vaulted and beamed ceilings, hardwood floors and a brick fireplace in the living room. The master suite is outfitted with a private patio. There are four bedrooms and four bathrooms in about 2,500 square feet of space.
Formal gardens, a koi pond and a guesthouse make up the grounds.
Jackson, 42, was a character on "Glee" in 2010 and 2011 and the sitcom "30 Rock" from 2009-12. More recently, he has appeared on the show "American Horror Story."
