From: The Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute, part of Atrium HealthCare in Charlotte, N.C.. He was endowed chair of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery and professor of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery.

Best advice: When things don’t go perfectly, the key to self-improvement as a surgeon is to be brave enough to look at yourself and find ways of doing it better. Quality and outcomes are achieved best through innovation. New ways to perform a surgery, new ways to deliver care and most important new ways to put the patient in the center of our efforts.
