Coronavirus has kids at home, out of school. Boys & Girls Clubs bringing virtual fun

Are the kids starting to get cabin fever from being home all day? Well, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade are offering “Virtual Club” for active members.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade physical locations remain closed due to COVID-19, however, the Club is letting youth members participate in fun activities through “Virtual Club,” a new way for kids to interact, have fun and meet-up over the web.

Activities include story time, STEM, arts and crafts, physical fitness, yoga, homework assistance, mentoring, social-emotional learning, “virtual get-togethers” and more.

The Boys & Girls Clubs will be offering these things virtually through Zoom, a conferencing website and app similar to Skype and schedules vary by Club and age group.

During Spring Break, virtual activities are offered daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in 40-minute sessions. Once Miami-Dade County Public Schools resumes distance learning on Monday, March 30, activities will begin after school at 3 p.m.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade will reopen its location at the same time Miami-Dade County Public Schools reopen. All public schools in Florida are online until at least April 15.
