Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy praises Florida State Seminoles

Their teams won’t meet for another three weeks, but Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher and Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy are already looking ahead to their Aug. 30 matchup.

Gundy sang FSU’s praises during a Thursday afternoon conference call and said he can’t identify any weaknesses on the Seminoles’ roster.

“They’re the reigning heavyweight champ,” Gundy said.

“When they come in, somebody's going to have to take the belt from them.”

OSU faces perhaps the toughest challenge of Gundy’s 10-year tenure. The Cowboys lost more lettermen than any Football Bowl Subdivision school in the country and will be breaking in a new quarterback.

But Fisher isn’t buying into any David-versus-Goliath ideas.

“No matter what, we have to target them,” Fisher said. “Because Oklahoma State is an outstanding program.”

They've had tremendous years and have had great players. Our kids know Oklahoma State.”
