Melody Vizcaino powers Palmetto softball; Bruno Rebessi leads Gulliver boys’ water polo

Frustrated by regular season success only to be followed by regional playoff losses the past two years, the Palmetto high school girls’ softball team is once again out of the gate quickly.

Led by Melody Vizcaino, both on the mound and at the plate, Palmetto easily mowed down Lourdes 16-0 on Monday to keep its record perfect at 5-0. Vizcaino went 1 for 2 at the plate, including a two-run home run, and pitched three innings of no-hit ball, striking out seven as the game ended after three due to the 15-run mercy rule.

Isabella Martinez (1 for 2, double, 4 RBI), Cassie Martinez (2 for 2), and Sophie Wylie (2 for 2) also came up with solid offensive performances for the Panthers.
