Who says you have to choose between standing up and sitting down for a day of paddling?
The new Switch from San Diego-based Isle is an inflatable stand-up paddleboard that doubles as a kayak by attaching a seat and other accessories to a series of webbing loops that run the length of the board. The system allows users to switch easily back and forth between a paddleboard and a solo or tandem kayak. It’s a great option for people who enjoy paddling to a fishing spot, but don’t want to necessarily spend the entire trip standing up. The watercraft doesn’t sacrifice performance or comfort in either set-up, and the four-inch inflatable seat cushion and fiberglass-reinforced seat backs provide plenty of support and control. The craft weighs just 19 pounds, and being inflatable, it’s easy to store and transport. It features a nose-to-tail EVA traction pad, making it comfortable and grippy when standing on top, and the ergonomic paddle breaks down into four smaller pieces that can be configured for either stand-up paddling or kayaking.
If you like a lot of options on the water — and don’t have limitless storage space in your home — the Switch might just be the boat you didn’t know you needed.
